Extreme high-temperature and metallurgical environments (1600°C–2800°C): Dead-burned or electro-fused magnesia is used for converter/electric arc furnace linings, high-temperature crucibles, and refractory bricks; materials must withstand erosion by molten steel and slag without undergoing structural melting or decomposition.
Acidic corrosion and environmental treatment environments: Reactive magnesia is used for flue gas desulfurization (SO₂/H₂S), acidic wastewater neutralization, and heavy metal precipitation, leveraging its mild alkalinity to adjust pH and adsorb pollutants.
Polymer Chemical and Rubber Processing: Serving as a vulcanization accelerator and acid scavenger for chloroprene and fluoro-rubbers, it must rapidly neutralize acidic by-products at processing temperatures to prevent mold corrosion and rubber blooming.
Electronic Insulation and Thermal Management: High-purity magnesium oxide is used in ceramic substrates, electric heating element fillers, and lithium-ion battery separator coatings, requiring high electrical insulation, high thermal conductivity, and extremely low impurity levels.
Humid and cementitious construction environments: When mixed with magnesium chloride solution, it forms magnesium oxychloride cement-suitable for fireproof boards and partition panels-requiring strict control of raw material purity to prevent corrosion caused by moisture absorption and "blooming" (re-exudation of salts).
