Storage methods for magnesium hydroxide

Magnesium hydroxide must be stored in a sealed, dry, cool, and well-ventilated area; the primary precautions are to prevent moisture absorption and caking, as well as contact with acidic gases.

Ambient Temperature: Store at room temperature, avoiding extremes of heat or cold. High temperatures may trigger decomposition, altering the material's chemical properties; while low temperatures do not directly affect chemical properties, temperature fluctuations can cause issues such as condensation, which may compromise quality.

Humidity Control: Store in a dry location. Magnesium carbonate is hygroscopic and readily absorbs moisture in humid environments, leading to clumping that impairs its purity and effectiveness.

Packaging Requirements: Use airtight packaging materials-such as sealed bags or drums-to prevent exposure to ambient air, moisture, and other impurities.

Storage Location: Store away from sources of fire or heat to ensure safety. Additionally, keep separate from strong oxidizing agents, acids, and similar substances to prevent hazardous chemical reactions.
